Foreigners are not allowed to own property in the Philippines, but there are a few ways around this. One is to marry a Philippine person, thus gaining the nationality and ability to buy outright. The other, more popular and less intense manner in which it is possible is to form a company in the Philippines – foreigners are only allowed to own 40 percent of the company, with the remaining 60 percent having to be owned by Philippine nationals. Nevertheless, with there are many real estate agents that can help out with this process, and once completed a property can be bought under the company’s name. As a bonus, landowners are entitled to any hidden treasure they may find on their property – so get digging!
